About our Festival

poinsettia-wagonThe Semiahmoo Peninsula is a vibrant, beautiful area and a popular stopping point for tourists, particularly during the summer months.   However, with little to attract visitors in the winter, tourism on the Peninsula decreases notably. By providing an unique experience such as an event (like the Vaisakhi Festival and Parade in Surrey), the Semiahmoo Peninsula, which retains its quaint  seaside village atmosphere even in the winter, will attract more tourists. A memorable winter event has the potential to bring visitors to this beautiful and picturesque area even in the ‘off’ season!

This is the vision of the Organizers and Directors of the Christmas On the Peninsula Festival, led by Liv Butow (President & Founder). The Festival is the realization of many months of planning and fund-raising efforts and the result of collaborative involvement of about 60 churches, community organisations, businesses and city departments in the area. The 2009 Festival was the beginning of a new tradition in the communities of White Rock and South Surrey that inhabit the Peninsula. The vision for years to follow includes plans for a Christmas Parade and an expanded events and activities schedule.

We trust you will enjoy the Festival and should you wish to contribute or if you have questions for the Organizers, please contact us.
